Copyright Policy

Last updated: January 2026

SocialMediaStarz respects intellectual property rights and expects our users to do the same. This policy outlines how we handle copyright and how to report infringement.

1. Ownership of Content You Post

When you upload or share content on SocialMediaStarz — including photos, videos, audio, text, and graphics — you retain full ownership of your intellectual property. We do not claim ownership over your original creations.

By posting content, you grant SocialMediaStarz a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, sublicensable licence to host, display, reproduce, and distribute that content solely for the purposes of operating and improving the platform. This licence ends when you delete your content or your account, except where your content has been shared by others (in which case copies may remain until those users delete them).

2. Content You Must Have Rights To

You may only post content that you:

  • Created yourself (original works)
  • Have been granted an explicit licence to share
  • Are permitted to share under a Creative Commons or open licence
  • Can legally share as fair use / fair dealing under applicable law

Posting content that belongs to another person or organisation without appropriate permission is a violation of this policy and may result in content removal or account suspension.

3. Platform-Owned Assets

The SocialMediaStarz name, logo, star icon, interface design, colour scheme, and all other brand assets are the exclusive property of SocialMediaStarz and are protected by trademark and copyright law. You may not reproduce, adapt, or use these assets without our prior written consent.

Fan art and non-commercial community content that clearly indicates it is unofficial is generally welcomed. If in doubt, contact us before publishing.

4. Prohibited Uses

The following are strictly prohibited on SocialMediaStarz:

🚫 Re-uploading others' content

Copying and re-posting videos, music, or images that you did not create without crediting and obtaining permission from the original creator.

🚫 Music & audio violations

Posting content that includes commercially released music, film soundtracks, or broadcast recordings without a licence from the rights holder.

🚫 Watermark removal

Deliberately cropping or obscuring watermarks, attribution marks, or signatures from another creator's work.

🚫 Counterfeit goods

Selling or promoting fake or counterfeit products that infringe on brand trademarks.

🚫 Impersonation via content

Using another creator's branding, thumbnails, or style in a way designed to mislead audiences.

5. DMCA Takedown Requests

If you believe your copyrighted work has been posted on SocialMediaStarz without authorisation, you may submit a Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) takedown notice. Your notice must include:

  1. Your full legal name and contact information
  2. A description of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
  3. The URL(s) of the infringing content on SocialMediaStarz
  4. A statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorised
  5. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate
  6. Your electronic or physical signature

Send DMCA notices to: copyright@socialmediastarz.com

⚠️ Filing a false DMCA claim is perjury under US law. Abuse of the takedown process will result in account termination.

6. Counter-Notices

If your content was removed following a DMCA notice and you believe the removal was in error, you may submit a counter-notice. We will forward your counter-notice to the original claimant. If they do not initiate legal action within 14 business days, we may restore your content.

Counter-notices should be sent to: copyright@socialmediastarz.com

7. Repeat Infringer Policy

SocialMediaStarz operates a strict three-strike policy for copyright violations:

Strike 1Content removed, formal warning issued
Strike 2Content removed, temporary account suspension (7–30 days)
Strike 3Permanent account termination

8. Fair Use

We recognise that fair use / fair dealing principles allow limited use of copyrighted material for purposes such as commentary, criticism, news reporting, education, and parody. We take fair use into account when reviewing copyright reports, but we cannot provide legal advice. If you believe your use qualifies, consider consulting a legal professional.
